Tri-County Junior Livestock Show
LIVESTOCK SHOW AND SALE CONTINUES TO CELEBRATE, REWARD YOUNGEST PRODUCERS WINNEMUCCA, Nev.— The Tri-County Junior Livestock Show and Sale takes place just once a year, but the skills youth learn in their respective 4-H and FFA educational programs will last a lifetime. This year's Tri-County Junior Livestock Show and Sale, which is hosted by the Tri-County Junior Livestock Show and Sale Board, is scheduled for Friday, September 1, through Sunday, September 3. Youth involved in 4-H and FFA will exhibit and show beef, goat, sheep and swine projects. The 4-H small animal youth will exhibit their 4-H small animal projects, such as cavy, rabbits and poultry, on Friday and Saturday in the 4-H Exhibit Hall. The 4-H small animal shows are put on by the 4-H Small Animal Committee and the Humboldt County Extension 4-H Program during the Labor Day weekend event. On Friday, the Tri-County Junior Livestock Breeding and Showmanship Show will begin in the early afternoon in the Livestock Arena and continue throughout the day. Cavy and Rabbit showmanship is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday in the 4-H Exhibit Hall. The Poultry show will begin around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The 4-H small animal show event also will include 5- to 8-year-old 4-H Cloverbuds, who will show their cavy, rabbits and poultry. Saturday, the livestock showmanship and market shows will begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day in the livestock arena. At 5 p.m. Saturday, Mayor Rich Stone will present the 4-H High Point Awards on the Main Stage at the Winnemucca Event Center. The Livestock Round Robin contest will follow in the Livestock Arena at 6 p.m. Sunday, the Tri-County Junior Livestock Sale will begin at 9 a.m. with a Buyer’s breakfast and coffee hour. Buyers are invited to participate in the breakfast and will receive a breakfast ticket upon check-in and registration for the auction. The livestock auction will begin at 10 a.m. in the Livestock Arena. The Tri-County Junior Livestock Auction is the culminating event for 4-H and FFA youth to auction their market beef, goat, sheep, swine, turkey, and fryer pen projects. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the auction. Buyers are encouraged to work with area youth producers to bid on and purchase the meat they have raised. Additionally, 4-H static projects such as photography, cooking, canning, crafts, sewing, rocketry and more will be on display at the Winnemucca Event Center all weekend.
